Plug and Play is a tech center based in Silicon Valley, California, with locations all over the world. Their mission is “to make innovation open to anyone, anywhere.” It is with this mission in mind that Plug and Play CEO and founder Saeed Amidi started conversations with Fargo non-profit Emerging Prairie about launching an accelerator in Fargo with a focus on AgTech.

As plans to open the accelerator took shape, Plug and Play reached out to AgTech businesses and asked them to apply for the cohort — including Geneses Feed Technologies (GFT). GFT CEO and co-founder Peter Schott knew it was a unique opportunity to connect with leaders in AgTech both locally and around the world.

Over 1,000 companies were reviewed and 100 were chosen for closer consideration by Plug and Play’s corporate anchor members. Of those, Genesis Feed Technologies was one of 30 companies invited to participate in the “Food Batch Cohort 7: Pitch Day” in Sunnyvale, California. Each company was given four minutes to present, and several minutes of Q&A. CEO and co-founder Peter Schott presented and answered questions from fellow startup founders from around the world.

Later that day, Peter received the news that GFT was selected to be one of the 15 participants in the Spring 2020 cohort. As part of the cohort, GFT will gain access to mentorship through Plug and Play, while collaborating with other startups in the AgTech and feed industry.

“We are excited and grateful to participate in this cohort,” Schott said. “Plug and Play’s extensive network gives us access to valuable pilot customers and business mentors.”

The Fargo Plug and Play accelerator was officially launched in March 2020.

“We are excited to build this ecosystem and find the next unicorn in this space,” Amidi said.
